What’s the role?

Our Buyer Support team aims to provide the best in class buyer support experience to ensure shopping on Etsy is reliable and delightful. We build experiences that enable buyers to receive support anywhere they are (web or native platforms), while building processes that drive cost efficiency for our business and that establish trust and accountability in our brand. 

We are looking for someone who can work closely with a team of cross-functional partners in product management, engineering, research, and analytics. You will collaborate and lead with multidisciplinary partners including our operations partners to contribute to our overall vision for Etsy’s Buyer Support experience!

You’ll work closely with your product management team to prioritize the most impactful projects while ensuring you have the focus, clarity, and time to deliver high-quality design work.

 

What is Product Design at Etsy?

Typically, product designers at Etsy work in a squad with a product manager, 3-5 engineers, researcher, and analyst. Together, they drive their own part of Etsy, deliver solutions to challenging problems, and get feedback directly from our customers. 

 

Day to day, it looks like: 

  • Discovering insights, opportunities, and requirements
  • Testing prototypes and hypotheses with users to collect feedback
  • Working closely with product managers and engineers to establish product requirements
  • Launching experiments and evaluating how they perform and how to iterate
  • Presenting your work to peers and leadership, async and in-person
  • Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands, and squad meetings
  • Thinking and writing about your process and documenting your decisions 

 

Senior level at Etsy means:

  • You can run independently or give direction to designers within your team 
  • You can lead workshops and effectively align the group around a vision and approach
  • You have a track record of designing complex flows and customer journeys
  • You can think and design at a system level, not just interface elements or pages
  • You’ll regularly make use of your soft skills: listening, negotiating, decision-making
  • Bonus: You have extensive experience working on native platforms
