IT Trainer

We are looking for an IT Trainer with strong technical expertise, familiarity with adult learning principles, and proficiency in various training delivery methods. The role involves providing comprehensive technical training to legal and professional staff, ensuring they can effectively use the systems and applications developed, acquired, or customized by the Firm.

As a part of both the Americas and Global IT Training teams, the IT Trainer collaborates with colleagues to create and deliver impactful technical and IT-related training experiences. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required, with the frequency to be discussed during the recruitment process.

The IT Trainer is responsible for onboarding new hires with core IT training, offering job role-specific training, and working with staff to maximize productivity through software utilization. They also participate in projects related to new software and technology rollouts on local, regional, and global levels.

Responsibilities:
- Provide IT training with a business analysis and technical advisory approach.
- Deliver technical training to staff of all levels in various formats, including one-on-one, small group, and large group sessions.
- Support new and returning staff to ensure they adapt to firm systems, offering follow-up sessions or additional support as needed.
- Conduct ongoing IT training for firm personnel on software applications developed or customized by the firm, through classroom, web, or videoconference sessions, and desk-side support.
- Maintain and update a library of learning content in collaboration with the Global IT Training Team.
- Develop and manage training curricula, course descriptions, schedules, evaluation criteria, learning paths, and attendance records using the firm's learning management system.
- Collaborate with the Service Desk team to enhance training by understanding employee service requests and adapting training accordingly.
- Work with the Practice Development, Learning and Development teams, and department heads to assess needs and tailor training.
- Partner with Human Resources to provide remedial technical training to employees in need.
- Develop strategies to apply software features to specific challenges, promoting best practices.
- Conduct floor support exercises for ad-hoc training and coaching.
- Collaborate with global teams on special projects requiring advanced application expertise.
- Lead global rollouts, contribute to change management, and train other IT Training team members.
- Handle special projects and other assigned duties.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in learning/development/training in a medium-to-large professional services organization (law firm experience preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of firm personnel and external vendors.
- Proactive customer service orientation.
- Ability to inspire confidence and ease in trainees, encouraging proactive learning.
- Strong facilitation skills and engaging presence.
- Intellectual agility to understand firm functions and support specialized tasks and projects.
- Ability to relate technical functions and software features to business needs and communicate them to non-IT professionals.
- Capacity to partner with legal practice groups and non-IT business functions to address training needs.
- Creative and thorough problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in major productivity suites, email, word processing, spreadsheets, data analysis, and document management software.
- Interest in monitoring emerging productivity trends and tools.
- Quick learner of new software, including legal-specific Microsoft Office extensions.
- Innovative training approaches to enhance quality, reach, and retention.
- Experience with learning management systems for setting learning paths, administering classes, and tracking attendance is preferred.
- Experience creating training videos, animations, or online materials using content authoring software like Camtasia is preferred.
- Flexibility to deliver training during and occasionally outside of core business hours.
- Willingness to occasionally travel domestically and internationally to support the Global IT Training Function.

 

This is a hybrid role. This role is to be filled outside the states of California and Colorado.
