Cryptography Specialist
Job Description
Overview: We are seeking a skilled Cryptography Specialist to develop, implement, and manage encryption solutions that secure our data. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of encryption technologies, cybersecurity practices, and data-in-use encryption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy encryption strategies to safeguard data at rest, in transit, and in use.
- Assess and choose suitable encryption algorithms and tools that meet industry standards.
- Configure and oversee encryption keys and certificates.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) implementation and management.
- Perform encryption audits to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.
- Work closely with IT and security teams to integrate encryption solutions into existing systems.
- Monitor and troubleshoot encryption systems to maintain optimal performance and security.
- Stay updated on advancements in encryption technologies and emerging cybersecurity threats.
- Provide training and support to staff on best practices for encryption.
Results Expected:
- Develop and execute a strategy and roadmap for implementing data encryption for critical systems, addressing data at rest, in transit, and data in use.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance and ensure compliance of key management systems with industry standards and best practices.
- Create a comprehensive data security governance framework with stakeholder support.
- Draft and maintain procedure and process documentation for data security.
- Utilize existing encryption tools and technologies, including AES, RSA, and PKI, to improve data security.
- Work seamlessly with stakeholders to integrate encryption solutions and bolster data security and regulatory compliance.
- Strengthen the company’s encryption posture to prevent data breaches and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with encryption technologies and tools (e.g., AES, RSA, SSL/TLS, PKI).
- Strong understanding of cryptographic protocols and security frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of data-in-use encryption technologies.
- Experience with key management systems and related practices.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for data encryption (e.g., FIPS, GDPR).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong ability to produce technical documentation.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Availability for on-site work in Chicago 3 days a week.
