Senior Data Architect

Our client, FinTech firm is seeking a seasoned Data Architect.   The Senior Data Architect will be responsible for developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively. This individual will work closely with developers to proactively troubleshoot and ensure system consistency.   This position will be responsible for collaborating across business lines, ensuring services and applications are adherent to best practices.   The Senior Data Architect will collaborate with technology and business line leaders to understand business needs, develop operational efficiencies and troubleshoot as necessary, as well as provide mentorship and guidance to junior level staff.  


  • Build and maintain stable, sustainable and extensible design for all developed services and applications
  • Tracks and steers service design and development for all services to fulfill Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Adopt best practices and standards across developed services and applications with regards to development, deployment, maintenance, continuity, backup, and monitoring
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders in IT and the Business to understand needs and priorities
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff
  • Ensure quality of code of data architecture
  • Collaborates with Service Delivery Manager to ensure capacity is also used for technical maintenance and evolution
  • Participate in production incident resolution and incident reporting
  • Proactively address obstacles that impede operational efficiency and service continuity

  • Bachelor' s degree, preferably in a quantitative, business-related discipline, or equivalent work experience in areas of research & operations management, product development or project management.
  • 8+ years working with SQL Server (T-SQL), able to guide development best practices and advise on query performance tuning
  • 5+ years working with SSIS, both loading structured data files and internal SQL to SQL, ETL frameworks, monitoring and best practices
  • Experience modeling and working with Transactional and Data Warehouse style databases
  • Experience with MS SQL MDS preferred
  • Experience with MS SQL CDC preferred
  • Experience with Visual Studio Data Projects preferred
  • Familiar with a couple reporting tools, such as Tableau or SSRS
  • Structured problem solving skills; significant experience using systematic and fact-based processes to determine root cause and improve operations and support for mission critical services
  • Oriented toward optimization and efficiency in process
  • Experience working within governing controls such as Change Management, Incident Management and Continuity Management
  • Demonstrated expertise in establishing a culture of positive collaboration amongst cross-functional teams comprised of diverse personalities, skill sets and levels of experience
  • Highly developed communications skills to clearly articulate the business and technical requirements required for service delivery
  • Effectively conveys a sense of urgency and bias for action
