Project Manager 

In a buy-side financial services setting, the Project Manager/Business Analyst works as part of a project management team, assisting with the review, analysis and evaluation of requests submitted to the IT department by various front, middle, and back office business units. This individual will use industry leading project management methodologies such as Agile to manage a combination of internal, consultant and vendor resources to complete projects and deliver solutions to the business units. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage projects as assigned and perform the related tasks to ensure the successful delivery and implementation of the project

• Business advocacy – pro-actively advocating for business goals and escalating back the responses to open questions around processes, systems and data

• Facilitate and lead the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables working directly with the requesting teams within the Firm while showing an ability to lead and demonstrate value add principles to the team

• Function as a servant leader, garnering respect from the project team and showing willingness to get their hands dirty to get the job done

• Formulate solutions, project plans and execute thorough business analysis to meet the identified and agreed upon requirements

• Report on project status and metrics; tracking the deliverables using the appropriate tools, ensuring that reasonable testing and quality assurance (QA) occurs throughout the project lifecycle

• Provide direction, support and leadership for the project team • Lead/facilitate discussions to drive business process/workflow analysis

• Provide thought-leadership for improvements, address cross-functional workflows and present opportunities for improvement

• Facilitate discussion and alternative approaches, especially in regard to conflict resolution

• Operates hands-on and detail oriented; Sufficient understanding of business needs, requirements, design and roadblocks to effectively navigate projects to successful completion

• Assist in the development and continuous refinement of the Firm’ s project management process, tools and standards • Assist with end-user training efforts as needed

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


 • Bachelor’ s degree in Management Information Systems, Business, Finance, or a related field

• Minimum 5 years combined experience as a Project Manager, Business Analyst or QA specialist

• Agile methodology experience and the ability to break down complex problems into manageable stories

• Experience preparing and maintaining business requirements/workflows, prioritizing requirements, enforcing change control policy, and validation testing of business requirements

• Experience identifying and documenting functional and non-functional technical requirements

• Experience and understanding of systems development life cycle, managing project resources (internal, consultant and vendor) and leveraging project management tools to produce project related artifacts and metrics

• Experience in training end-users on new procedures and/or applications

• Self-motivated and possess excellent analytical and communication skills (written and verbal), and be able to effectively multi-task with strong attention to quality and detail

• Ability to relate to, interact with, and effectively work with, a technical team as well as (nontechnical) individuals in various business units within the Firm

• Develop and document use cases, detailed business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, etc. related to assigned projects • Demonstrate situational awareness (i.e.: be the first to notice differences and issues as they arise and elevate them to necessary levels)

• Focus on continuous improvement (i.e.: emphasis on growing his/her skillset and developing other team members)


• Project management certification(s) and/or Scrum Master certification • Background working with the Agile project management methodology • Working knowledge of Atlassian project management tools – JIRA, TEMPO, AGILE, etc.

• Experience with some combination of front, middle, and back office systems (i.e.: portfolio management, order entry, trading operations, post trade settlement, data management, etc.)

• Financial services related experience and/or certifications such as NASD Series 7

• Working knowledge of SQL for purposes of analyzing data related to assigned projects

• Working knowledge of programming concepts and testing methodologies • Prior experience working on disaster recovery related initiatives
