Data Developer

Our client, Fintech firm is seeking a seasoned Data Developer. The Data Developer will be responsible for developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively. This individual will work closely with developers to ensure system consistency.   This individual will ensure services and applications are adherent to best practices across all business lines.   The Data Developer will collaborate with technology and business line leaders to understand business needs, develop operational efficiencies and troubleshoot as necessary.   


  • Adopt best practices and standards across developed services and applications with regards to development, deployment, maintenance, continuity, backup, and monitoring
  • Tracks and steers service design and development for all services to fulfill Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders in IT and the Business to understand needs and priorities
  • Write and maintain documentation the ETL and application processes
  • Ensures quality of code of data architecture
  • Works from a prioritized list of improvements owned by the Service Delivery Manager (SDM); collaborates with SDM to ensure capacity is also used for technical maintenance and evolution
  • Participates in production incident resolution and incident reporting
  • Proactively address obstacles that impede operational efficiency and service continuity 
  • guide development best practices and advise on query performance tuning

  • 3+ years working with SQL Server (T-SQL)
  • 1+ years working with SSIS, both loading structured data files and internal sql to sql, ETL frameworks, monitoring and best practices
  • Familiar with database development best practices (transactional and data warehousing)
  • Experience with Visual Studio Data Projects (nice to have)
  • Structured problem solving skills; significant experience using systematic and fact-based processes to determine root cause and improve operations and support for mission critical services
  • Oriented toward optimization and efficiency in process
  • Demonstrated expertise in establishing a culture of positive collaboration among cross-functional teams comprised of diverse personalities, skill sets and levels of experience
  • Highly developed communications skills to clearly articulate the business and technical requirements required for service delivery
  • Effectively conveys a sense of urgency and bias for action
  • Ability to work in a team environment in a collaborative manner, as well as an individual contributor
