Senior Software Engineer

 

Our client is seeking a seasoned software developer to join our Technology/Operations (TOps) team.    The candidate will be working with new technologies across the C# stack such as .net core conversion, micro-services via docker, SQL, and web front ends with angular.   The candidate must be capable of designing and developing significant new functionality in a sustainable and extensible method. This is an opportunity for a developer to take a leadership role in the engineering of the projects(s) and have long-term career growth opportunities.    They are located in the Ogilvy building so its perfect for commuters as well as city dwellers. 

 

Responsibilities
  • Focuses on stable, sustainable and extensible design for all developed services and applications
  • Adopt best practices and standards across developed services and applications with regards to development, deployment, maintenance, continuity, backup, and monitoring
  • Tracks and steers service design and development for all services to fulfill Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Works from a prioritized list of improvements owned by the Service Delivery Manager
  • Proactively address obstacles that impede operational efficiency and service continuity
  • Provides support when needed for all developed services and applications
  • Participates in change and incident management processes when required

Requirements
  • Bachelor' s degree, preferably in a computer science or other quantitative fields
  • Experience as a product or team lead
  • Expert level in the C#/Microsoft SQL stack
  • Familiarity with popular design / development / testing patterns and frameworks
  • Experience with developing microservices and containerization using docker and .net core
  • Structured problem solving skills; significant experience using systematic and fact-based processes to determine root cause and improve operations and support for mission critical services
  • Oriented toward optimization and efficiency in process
  • Experience working within governing controls such as Change Management, Incident Management and Continuity Management
  • Demonstrated expertise in establishing a culture of positive collaboration amongst cross-functional teams comprised of diverse personalities, skill sets and levels of experience
  • Highly developed communications skills to clearly articulate the business and technical requirements required for service delivery
  • Effectively conveys a sense of urgency and bias for action
