  Assistant Vice President, Back Office Technology (Project Manager)

The Technology Solutions Department is responsible for designing and delivering state of the art technology solutions that are designed to create efficiency, mitigate risk, and grow revenue for the Firm. Technology Solutions focuses on technical excellence through innovative application designs, robust data integration and analytics, high availability infrastructure, and gold level service for our key stakeholders. Critical functions within Technology Solutions include Project Management, Vendor Management, Business Analysis, Data Strategy and Stewardship, Application Development and third Party Integration, Strategic Infrastructure, and Operations. The Technology Solutions department collaborates closely with Firm leadership and business unit heads to develop plans in line with business objectives.

Our client is looking for an experienced individual with very strong project management skills across a variety of large, enterprise software implementation projects. The candidate will be responsible for managing multiple, simultaneous technology projects concentrated around the implementation and enhancement of 3rd party vendor applications supporting back-office business units involved in the accounting, planning and reporting of financial performance. Specifically, the candidate will be the project manager responsible for the successful implementation of a new, cloud-based ERP system and the retirement of legacy system. This is a hands-on, comprehensive project management role, responsible for the successful delivery of the projects he or she is managing.

  The successful candidate will be able to plan the work with a keen attention to detail, understand the tasks in the plan in order to use judgement and experience along with the plan to identify risks and issues, be able to influence and motivate others toward the ultimate goal and demonstrate a strong sense of pride and ownership for the success of the project. It is expected that the person in this role will have prior experience in a similar role implementing ERP solutions such as General Ledger, AR / AP, FP&A and Human Capital Management and will bring that expertise and knowledge of best practices and potential roadblocks to the role.

The candidate will work closely with subject matter experts from multiple business units as well as internal technology resources and professional services implementation teams to successfully deliver their projects. In addition to managing the project tasks, the candidate will gain a thorough understanding of the system functionality. This is a client-facing role requiring communication with users at all levels, so exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Position Responsibilities

− Develop detailed project plans including detailed tasks, resource assignments, effort estimates, due dates, dependencies and key milestones

 − Demonstrate a sense of ownership for the deliverables and gain an understanding of the technology solution and business process changes associated with the project

 − Develop project budgets, track actuals and manage variances

 − Assertively interact with all team members and ensure good communication and collaboration

 − Build solid relationship with project team from vendor firms and system integration firms in order to effectively manage external resources

− Track and manage issues, risks and scope changes methodically and with transparency

− Find creative ways to accomplish tasks and overcome obstacles − Understand when an issue needs to be escalated and take appropriate action

 − Prepare and deliver project status reports and Steering Committee updates

 − Leverage existing project management templates and tools, and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate

− Take a lead role in testing ensuring that test plans are developed and executed, and that the solution meets the business requirements and achieves the projected business benefits − Work independently in a fast paced environment

Candidate Requirements Qualifications & Experience:

− Bachelor’ s Degree (Computer Science, Business or related field preferred) and 10+ years of project management experience in a similar role, preferably in Financial Services is required

 − Prior experience in working with vendors to implement software solutions at an enterprise level is required − Prior experience with ERP implementation projects is required
