### Sr. Engineer Observability
**Responsibilities:**
The Sr. Engineer Observability will administer and configure Splunk and Zenoss platforms to meet organizational monitoring needs, perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure tool health and security, and continuously monitor the health and performance of these systems. They will ensure data integrity and availability within the observability platforms, provide support to internal users, troubleshoot issues, and deliver training on Splunk and Zenoss. Additionally, they will create and manage dashboards, reports, and alerts, collaborate with stakeholders to define monitoring requirements and implement alerting mechanisms, manage data ingestion, storage, and retention, and optimize system performance by tuning configurations and managing resource utilization. The role includes maintaining comprehensive documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures, developing and enforcing best practices for monitoring and observability, collaborating with IT and DevOps teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage, and participating in incident response efforts using observability data for troubleshooting and resolution.
**Qualifications:**
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of IT administration experience focused on Splunk and Zenoss. Proven experience in managing and maintaining observability tools, proficiency in Splunk (configuration, administration, dashboard creation) and Zenoss (setup, configuration, maintenance), strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, applications, and networking, and experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash) are required. Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure), excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, strong communication and collaboration abilities, and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment are essential. Preferred qualifications include Splunk and/or Zenoss certifications, experience with other monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), and knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
